St. David's has a 100 year old tradition of excellence in the Anglican choral tradition and the parish remains a custodian of the arts in the community. The parish enjoys the offerings of two choirs. During the academic year the Choir supports the 10:30 Liturgy each Sunday and major festival. The Parish Choir offers Choral Evensong on the second and fourth Sunday evenings of each month at 5:00 PM. Throughout the choral season, a series of Musical Events is offered following Choral Evensong. Some of the finest musicians in the surrounding area have appeared on this series throughout the years. The annual Baltimore Bach Marathon, now in its twenty-eighth consecutive year at Saint David’s Church, continues to fill the church with over a thousand music lovers each February who come to hear the music of Johann Sebastian Bach performed by fine musicians from all over the Baltimore and Washington musical communities over a period of nearly eight hours. No matter what the style, music is widely appreciated as an entrance into the presence of the Holy. Here at St. David's we strive to make that entrance pleasing to both God and God's people. Soli Deo Gloria!
The primary instrument in the Church is an organ built in 1966 by the Canadian firm Casavant Frères. The instrument has 47 ranks of pipes, playable over three manuals and pedal. The organ is heard in weekly Service, as well as on occasions such as the annual Baltimore Bach Marathon, when over a thousand people each year gather to hear the music of the great master over a period of nearly eight hours. The Church also possesses a beautiful chamber instrument, built in
1986, of four stops from the Dutch builder Flentrop Orgelbouw, which
is used for smaller Services in the Chapel of Christ the King, and on
occasion in the accompaniment of earlier repertoire in Service in the
Church or in concert.
